You may have wondered: “Why was I born?”, “Where I come before?”, “Why was I born?” One day when the school holidays, children visiting a nursing home in Salt Lake City, Utah. One of the kids were surprised that so many parents are sitting in a wheelchair or on foot. The child has entered into an environment in which he had never seen so many people who are elderly (nursing home).
People were either elderly women and men, his eyes had wrinkled, sagging and watery, their muscles have been loosened, and their toothless mouths, and they can not speak much. That night he had nightmares.
The founder of Buddhism have the same experience. When Siddhartha Gautama was born, her father called a hermit to forecast the future of their children. Wise hermit said there are two paths open before her, first he will be a mighty king, wise and control the entire India, or both, he left the palace and become a World-Honored One, Buddha.
That her son did not become a Buddha, his father protects his son by giving all the fun and entertainment, luxury and only friends with people young, beautiful, good friends and alienate him from all trouble and sorrow. So the prince grew up in an environment that is so comfortable inside the palace, and without even ever come out of the palace walls.
One day, when the prince had aged 20 years, he finally allowed out of the palace and meet people. Here, he saw three or suffering; an ailing, elderly, and a death ceremony. All of this unprecedented lifetime he saw. Prince wonder why they should suffer, and how to escape from all this suffering, old age, sickness and death. These questions continue to haunt and disturb the mind. Only one way to find the answer to that question, he must abandon his life and became an ascetic. So, finally he left the child and his beloved wife, and his parents to live as a hermit.
After six years of implementing petapaan harsh, tortured bodies and lust, in the end he achieved Enlightenment and became Buddha. What he found was Nirvana, a way to stop the cycle of birth and death.
Once we are born, we are part of growing old and dying. If you are not born, we’ll never grow old and die. Do you want to be born or not, as long as you still have karma, you will always be born in the cycle of birth in six of the world like hell, greed, animals, anger, man and heaven. Each delivery must be increased until it reached Nirvana; however, we will continue to experience rebirth again and again.
Our state of mind sometimes increased but also sometimes degenerate depending on the circumstances of everyday what we do, think, and talk. In “Yokuryoshu”, the Lotus Sutra says: “The Buddha appeared in this world is to open the door to enter the deep pengeritan of Buddha, and causing us all to achieve holiness in ourselves, to show a deep understanding of the Buddha to all living creatures, show that all living creatures can enter the path to reach understanding of the Buddha. “This is the main reason why Buddha Sakyamuni was born and came into this world was to expound FOUR DEEP UNDERSTANDING of the Buddha mentioned above.
The reason why we should be born is to improve our karma and enhance the style of our lives mentally, spiritually and physically. We live to fulfill this task from generation to generation. So the descendants of us will be better. When we celebrate the birth of the Buddha Sakyamuni, let us remember the birth of Her goals and also thinking about our own destiny in this world.
