Welcome to Birth Year Network Birth Year Network was founded on the belief that birth is a natural process and that women and their families deserve access to healthcare that supports the way in which they choose to birth. We firmly support increasing the education and awareness of consumers and professionals regarding all aspects of reproductive care. Birth Year Network supports and encourages the practice of doulas, midwives, childbirth educators, lactation consultants, and other family support professions. We encourage parents, practitioners, and hospitals to utilize the principles of the Mother Friendly Childbirth Initiative, the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative, and The Midwifery Model of Care as goals toward a mentally and physically healthy birth and parenting experience. The Birth Year Network formed out of two existing community networks. The Doula Resource Center (DRC) of Cape Cod and a coalition of consumers and professionals organized around defending a woman's right to VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarean). The DRC provided professional listings for the community, continuing education, and provided doulas for WIC clients through a grant from the March of Dimes. The VBAC coalition brought media attention to the issue of VBACs and provided information to consumers. The Birth Year Network has a strong background serving women and families, and advocacy. We welcome you to connect with us for information and community support.
